KNOW THE RECORD
Sources, coverage
and the next check.
This directory is a geographic starting point. It is not an exhaustive register of licensed dentists or a recommendation of clinical care.
Practices and individual dentists are separate
OpenStreetMap provides community-mapped dental locations. A location can employ several dentists, and one dentist may practise at several locations. The database has separate dentist, practice-location and relationship tables. No individual registration status has been inferred from a practice name or a map tag. Map features whose names suggest another profession or a laboratory, hygiene-only, denture-only or cosmetic-only service are held for scope review rather than silently treated as dentist offices.
The first snapshot contains 795 Toronto locations, 54 Markham locations and 51 Richmond Hill locations. Toronto includes 86 in the Scarborough filter. These counts do not represent the number of licensed dentists. Some records lack a street address or postal code. An absent field remains absent. Contact numbers are published only for activated paid listings.
The regulator is the authority for registration
The Royal College of Dental Surgeons of Ontario public register is the place to verify a named dentist’s registration and qualifications. Automated bulk retrieval was unavailable during this build; a complete regulator import has not been performed. Map entries are therefore labelled registration not checked. No disciplinary or health information is copied into this directory.
Municipal boundaries, not mailing-city guesses
Toronto points are tested against City-published municipal geometry. Markham and Richmond Hill use York Region’s official municipal geometry. Scarborough is filtered with the City’s community council boundary and remains part of Toronto. Address labels such as Thornhill or North York do not decide municipal inclusion. Source points near a municipal edge carry an additional review flag. Coordinates may describe a map point or a feature centre, not an entrance.
Curb candidates await review
For each practice, the database proposes up to three existing CURBS locations in the same municipality within 1,000 metres of its mapped point. Distances use a straight-line geographic calculation. There is no inference about legal or safe crossings, walking paths, the correct side of the street, vehicle access or which building entrance serves the practice. There are currently zero confirmed practice-to-curb pairs.
The sidewalk layer is historical
The City of Toronto sidewalk inventory uses spring 2015 aerial imagery and reports a last refresh of July 23, 2019. It covers Toronto only. The database retains 64,853 historical segments and, where nearby, references one as historical road context. A nearest segment is not proof that it serves a building entrance. It does not establish present-day sidewalk condition, curb ramps, winter maintenance, step-free access, elevator access or a continuous accessible journey. Markham and Richmond Hill have no Toronto sidewalk overlay.
Record dates have different meanings
Snapshot date: November 1, 2026. An OpenStreetMap edit timestamp tells you when the map feature was edited, not when the practice last confirmed occupancy or its services. “Registration not checked” stays in place until an appropriate check is recorded. New physical access observations require their own evidence, observation date and review.
Data you can inspect
Download practice-location CSV or download candidate curb links. Source identifiers, official-boundary decisions, missing-field statuses and edit dates remain with the records. A practice can correct its public information through the source project; confirm visit details with the practice before travelling.
Free location information. Optional paid contact.
Practice names, addresses, geographic context and curb information remain free to browse. Phone numbers and direct contact actions are available only on activated paid listings, clearly labelled Paid contact. Payment does not change alphabetical ordering or establish clinical quality, registration, current occupancy or accessibility. No payment or booking is collected by this directory.
Attribution and independence
OpenStreetMap-derived location data is credited to OpenStreetMap contributors and provided under the Open Database License. City of Toronto data retains its Open Government Licence – Toronto attribution; York Region data retains its source terms. The original CURBS website and records keep their existing notices. Listings do not imply sponsorship, endorsement, availability, clinical quality or that an office receives messages through this site. No booking system is activated here.
